Rolheiser: Naming the present moment
Tuesday, May 24, 2022

Not everything can be fixed or cured, but it should be named properly. Richard Rohr said that. James Hillman suggests something similar when he wrote that a symptom suffers most when it doesn’t know where it belongs. Where does our present moment belong vis-à-vis our faith in God and the relevance of our churches? Are […]

Landry: We are given an indelible spiritual mark on our souls
Tuesday, May 24, 2022

One lasting image from Toy Story 2 is found on the bottom of cowboy doll Woody’s boot. There, you would find the name ‘Andy’ written in permanent marker. Andy writes his name on the feet of most of his toys as a sign/reminder that they are his and he cares for them. In the movie, […]

Rolheiser: Managing an ascension
Wednesday, May 4, 2022

A friend of mine, somewhat cynical about the church, recently remarked: “What the institutional church today is trying to do is to put its best face on the fact that it’s dying. Basically, it’s trying to manage a death.” What he’s suggesting is that the church today, like a person struggling to accept a terminal […]

Interview with Métis Papal Delegate Angie Crerar
Tuesday, March 15, 2022

“We were taught the Church was universal. My parents taught us to love, to be united as a family, that the family that prays together stays together,” Angie recalled. “And the people who taught that same religion also changed my life forever – so it’s hard for me. But what’s most important is not what happened back then, it’s where we are today. To learn to forgive, it’s been a real challenge. But the love of my children, my husband and my friends is what has guided me… I know now it’s time for me to heal. I have to cross that line.”
